What's the difference between a few dollars and dozens of dollars of jewelry?

As a jewelry wholesaler, customers often ask us what the difference between a few dollars and dozens dollars of jewelry is. Is the difference big?

As the saying goes, you get what you pay. Today we will make earrings as an example to explain to you where the price difference is?

1. The difference in production quantity

The cost allocated to each ornament is different depending on the order quantity. Take the opening fee as an example. If the opening fee of jewelry requires USD300, then if 100 jewelry are produced at one time, the opening fee allocated to each ornament is USD3. Still, if 1000 jewelry are produced at one time, it will be apportioned to each piece of jewelry. The launch fee for each accessory is only USD0.3

2. The elemental composition of accessories is different

As we mentioned, jewelry materials are divide into gold, silver, alloy, titanium steel, and copper.

Pure gold is the most expensive, followed by pure silver, titanium steel is more costly than copper, and copper is more expensive than alloys. Therefore, the cost of different materials is also significantly extra.

3. The materials of the ear pins in the earrings are S999 and s925 and titanium steel and iron, of which s999 is the most expensive, followed by S925, then titanium steel, and finally iron.

4. Gold plate of jewelry

The jewelry's color is divide into alloy, 14k gold, and 18k gold.

Alloy is artificial gold and the color that imitates pure gold, and its cost does not contain gold, so its price is the lowest.

14k gold and 18k gold contain gold with different compositions; the higher the gold content, the higher the price, so according to the gold content, the cost of 14k gold is more elevated than 18k gold.

24k gold is 100% pure gold, and its price is the most expensive.

The difference is evident in putting synthetic gold and 14k 18k gold plating. The plating color of the alloy is very light, which is cheap compared with K gold jewelry, and the color retention of synthetic gold is poor, and it will generally fade in three to four months. And K-gold-plated jewelry retains its color for at least one year. If it is maintained according to the methods mentioned in our previous articles, there is no problem with the jewelry being worn for three or four years. (Please see my previous article on the maintenance of accessories of different materials)

5. Plating process of jewelry

When it comes to color retention, we must mention the plating process. The plating process is first reflected in whether the plated surface of the jewelry is flat.

A good electroplating layer will be polished many times, and the surface of the jewelry is smooth, complete, and bright, like a mirror. It is what we often call mirror polishing. The cheap electroplating surface usually has some unevenness visible to the naked eye.

The most important thing for jewelry color retention is the thickness of the color plating and the later oil sealing treatment.

The plating thickness of K gold is different, and the price will vary greatly. Generally, the better K gold-plated jewelry on the market uses three-layer electroplating and thick gold color retention. Like our accessories from lerings.com

The price difference between drip oil and spray paint processes is the quantity and color. The more the amount, the cheaper it is, because the portion is small, it needs to be grade separately, and the publishing fee for the grade needs to be added.

6. The quality and craftsmanship of accessories are different

Jewelry will be composed of many accessories, and the price will differ for different quality and craftsmanship.

The inlay of diamonds is divide into micro-setting and point diamonds, and the price of micro-setting is higher than that of point diamonds.

Many pieces of jewelry will use pearls. Pearls are divide into seawater pearls and freshwater pearls. Seawater pearls are more expensive than freshwater pearls because they are nucleated pearls.

In the past two years, colored beaded jewelry has been more popular. Natural beads are more expensive than glass beads, and glass beads are more expensive than plastic beads.

Jewelry often uses diamonds. Of course, the diamonds here are not natural. We use zircon and rhinestones the most. Because zircon is very versatile, it is divide into 5A, 4A, 3A, etc. The price of zircon is higher than that of rhinestones.

Above, we briefly introduced the difference between a few dollars and dozens of dollars jewelry. Although the jewelry is small in size and light in weight, it uses many materials and craftsmanship, but it embellishes people more fashionable and beautiful.
